Thank you, thank you, thank you for supporting our Little Homeschool on the Prairie!
We love books!
Our devotionals is a big part of why we went to subject themed days. Our version of a morning basket, we begin each day with a few devotionals and something to keep little hands busy and little minds engaged. I love being able to so easily cover so many different devotional themes in one week: Monday is creation, Tuesday is theology, Wednesday is wisdom, Thursday is worship and Friday is prayer. I could never balance that with a traditional schedule.
Below you’ll find ALL our favourite devotionals, click to follow our affiliate links to add them to your favourites also and don’t forget to check out our Bible resources also.
If you want a different way to homeschool too, grab our guide.
Monday
Our version of a morning basket, each day has a few subject specific devotional books. Science is the study of the physical and natural world that God created, so our Science Day begins with devotionals centred on Creation. We have a playlist of creation themed worship music that we listen to while getting ready for the day before starting Science Day in awe of God’s creation and power through our devotion resources.

Tuesday
Bible Day devotionals are all about theology. We have so many that we love, I’m so glad we have found a way to fit them all in to our week. From Catechisms to the names of God through an introduction to systematic theology, our Bible morning devotions are filled with so much good stuff! For moms looking to feel a bit more confident in teaching theology or the Bible to their kids, Every Woman a Theologian by Phylicia Masonheimer is an easy to read systematic theology overview, I highly recommend. All our different subject resource pages have different devotionals, so don’t forget to check those pages too.

Wednesday
English Day’s theme is the Proverbs. We have a couple different resources that we use to help guide our study of the Proverbs including one of our favourite authors Marty Machowski’s Wise Up book as well as Tiny Truths Wonder & Wisdom. Keeping little hands busy, we have a colouring book of Aesop’s fables, which has lead to excellent discussions and comparisons with the Proverbs.

Thursday
Math Day’s devotional theme is worship because of the link between math and music. Each week we learn a new classic hymn studying it’s history, author and theology and the Psalms fit in perfectly too. Then before moving on to math, the boys get moving with our favourite Sunday School worship songs with all the actions and dancing included. If our Scripture memory verse for the week has a song to help us memorize, we add that in too.

Friday
History Day’s devotional theme is prayer.
With the day’s focus on history and geography, learning about and praying for the countries of the world, the spread of the Gospel and Christian missionaries fit in perfectly.
